Over the last 30 years, Thomas Cott has worked for some of America’s leading arts companies in a wide variety of roles, including artistic director, event producer, management consultant, fundraiser, and marketer.
As a marketer, Thomas has worked on over 100 shows in Broadway and Off-Broadway venues (mostly for Lincoln Center Theater) as well as several dozen productions at The Metropolitan Opera and NY City Opera. He is now in his 5th season with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, where he has played a central role in creating its new website and introducing fresh approaches to digital marketing which have helped to improve ticket sales, donations, enrollment at The Ailey School, signups for public classes and awareness of Ailey’s Arts In Education programs.
As a side activity, Thomas curates “You’ve Cott Mail,” a free service to arts professionals around the globe. Most weekdays, he sends out a short email digest with articles of interest to the field, and posts additional story links on Twitter.
